Saint Vincent DePaul Society

The Saint Vincent DePaul Society was founded in Paris in 1833 by a young college student named Frederick Oznam. Frederick desired to show the fruits of his religion and to live his faith by examples of loving and serving his neighbors. He enlisted the aid of several friends in this idea and so organized a small group, who placed themselves under the patronage of St. Vincent DePaul, in as much as Frederick associated his inspiration with the saints thinking and his work.

Today the Society is an international organization with chapters in most countries of the world. The Ss. Cosmas & Damian Parish Chapter was organized during Monsignor Link’s pastorship and has been active to the present time.

The Ss. Cosmas & Damian Parish chapter has been very fortunate and due to this success has expanded the scope of the chapters activities. We are able to assist the needy by our principal activity of supplying food boxes and other areas of assistance which our membership deems necessary. The food distribution includes food boxes and certificates to needy families for the Christmas holiday.

The Society is open to membership to men and women who wish to live their faith by loving and serving their neighbors in this immediate area. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room. If interested in joining, contact any member or president, Monica Bizousky – 938-3799.
